About Us
Sandhi Niketan Shikshan Sanstha (SNSS) is a non-profit making voluntary organisation working for socio-economic and integrated development of rural villages in the areas of Latur and Nanded district. SNSS was established in 1981; they celebrated their silver Jubilee recently, with the theme of capacity building of rural poor.
Shishu Greh, the adoption centre , provide care, protection , food , clothing and shelter to destitute and orphan children in the age group of 0- 6 years. Shishu Greh with an intake capacity of 10 children is a Licensed Adoption Placement Agency authorised to place children for in-country adoption. The children are well looked after for their medical, nutritional and recreational needs. Motherly love and care is provided by the child care workers as well as other staff members of the organization. Four child care workers work in two shifts to look after the children. There is medical doctor on a regular basis as well as a visiting pediatrician attending to medical care.
During the year 2005-06, nine children found families and were placed in adoption.
The social workers and the child care workers get in-service training arranged by training institutes like YASHADA, and Agencies working in the field of Adoption such as Catalysts for Social Action (CSA). They also receive regular in-puts from the Adoption Co-ordination Agency.
Apart from the Shishu Greh, SNSS has the following institutes catering to the needs of disabled and under privileged :-
- Prerana Niwasi Matimand Vidyalaya- Residential school for mentally challenged children in the age
group of 6- 15 years.
- Ekalavya Blind School – Residential school for blind children in the age group of 6- 14 years.
- Smt. Narsabai Mata Residential School for physically challenged children in the age group of 6-14 years.
- Day care centres for children in rural areas.
- Indira Gandhi Women's Old Age Home.
- Jivan Vikas Matimand Karamshala- Imparts vocational training to mentally challenged boys.
- Short Stay Home for needy women such as widows, divorcees, and unwed mothers.
- Chacha Nehru Balsadan- Residential Institution catering to the care, protection, food, clothing
and educational needs of orphans and destitute children.
- Working Womens hostel.
- Sant Gadgebaba Leprosy House- a residential vocational training centre for the rehabilitation
of cured Leprosy Patients.
- De-Addiction and Rehabilitation centre for drug addicts.
- Chatrapati Shahu Mentally Retarded School.
