About Us
Unatishil Mahila Mandal is a non-profit making voluntary organization established in 1986 and registered under the Society Registration Act of Maharashtra and the Bombay Public Trust Act. The Institution works for the development of women and children in Nanded District in Maharashtra . The following institutions are under Unatishil Mahila Mandal:-
1. Savitribai Phule ShishuGreh – the adoption centre provides care, protection, food, clothing and shelter to destitute and orphan children in the age group of 0- 6 years. Shishu Greh with an intake capacity of 10 children is a Licensed Adoption Placement Agency authorised to place children for in-country adoption. The children are well looked after for their medical, nutritional and recreational needs. Motherly care and love is provided by the child care workers as well as other staff members of the organization. Four child care workers work in two shifts to look after the children. There is a visiting doctor attending to the medical needs of the children.
During the year 2005-06, the institution placed five children under Adoption.
Birthdays of the children and national festivals like Children’s day, Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti, Independence Day, Republic Day, and Maharashtra Day are celebrated in the Shishu Greh.
The institution also undertakes various programmes during the Adoption Awareness week during 14-20th November. Programs for adopted parents, parents seeking adoption, doctors, advocates and social workers are conducted during this week for awareness generation.
The social workers and the childcare workers have undergone in-service training arranged by other Agencies working in the field of Adoption such as Catalysts for Social Action (CSA). They also receive regular in-puts from Adoption Co-ordination Agency, to improve the quality of work..
2. Rajiv Health Centre - De- Addiction centre in Loha.
Drug and alcohol addicts are given treatment and counseling in a residential set-up. This centre is being run under the guidelines and with the financial support of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt. of India. Apart from having an intake capacity for providing treatment and counseling services for 15 persons in a residential set up, the centre also conduct health awareness programmes in the nearby villages.
3. Malinath Balakasram- Provides shelter, care , food and clothing facilities for destitute and orphan children in the age group of 6 to 18 years. It has an intake capacity of 100 children. This centre has two separate sections for boys as well as girls. Educati facilities are arranged for them in nearby schools.
