Self Realization Mission (Shishu Greh)

About Us

Self Realization Mission (SRM) is one of the oldest socio-spiritual Organization with out any religious discrimination in the state of Orissa. It has been in operation since 1988. With its pre-defined goals and uninterrupted activities, SRM is recognized as one of the prominent Organization in the State. It acts as a catalyst in the field of various aspects of social service and development

The vision of the organization is “making social service reality to the down-trodden and destitute of the State.”

Activities

1.Child Care Institution & Orphanage

To help the orphaned, abandoned or destitute children, SRM opened a childcare Institution called “SASWATA TAPOBAN” since 1998. We also obtained recognition from state Govt. for the Child Care Institution in June 2007. We also run a Sishu Griha under this programme. 10 children below 6 yrs. are residing at our Sishu Griha, which has got license from the state Govt. for placing them under adoption in India.

Apart from that, 27 children who are above 6 yrs. are residing at our orphanage. The Mission gives them proper education, care and protection. SRM is running this orphanage with the help of donations from public.

2. Environmental Programmes

In order to encourage people to plant ornamental and fruit yielding plants, we are conducting many awareness programmes and Camps. We also distribute plant saplings to people. We educate people residing near forest area of Gohira Panchayat under Ghasipura Block to protect forest trees as it is vital for environmental protection.

3. Old Age Home
We have opened an old age home since 2003 for the rehabilitation of the destitute older people. 20 male and 11 female older people are residing in the old age home. We also run a meditation centre and Yoga class for the older people, free of charge.

4. Programme on Education
Keeping the ancient ‘ Guru Kula Ashram ‘ concept we have opened a residential school at the Mission’s Headquarters at Trilochanpur, Dist – Keonjhar where 100 ST/ SC pupils are undertaking education. We give priority to girls under this programme. Besides education the Mission imparts life skill education too to the girls. Moral Education is also imparted to the students. The school started in 1992 and is working for the up-liftment of the neglected Tribal and SC students.

5. Women & Child Rights We have arranged district level meetings and seminars in various places in the district of Keonjhar to spread awareness on Women and Child Rights.
The year 2007-08 was observed as “CHILD FRIENDLY PANCHAYAT INTIATIVES “ programme in Keonjhar District.
6. Socio-economic Development Programme We formed sixty Self Help Groups(SHGs) for women and arranged various productive training Programmes like tailoring , spice making, carpet making etc for them. The SHGs are involved in selling forest products, Diary and much other small- scale business.
