About Us

Maharshi Dayanand Service Mission (MDSM) is a Non-government and nonreligious social Organization committed to promote social justice though restoration of human rights for the neglected and deprived sections of the society of all ages irrespective of caste, creed and religion.

Activities

1.Child welfare Program

a) Community Based Child Welfare Program (Sponsorship)

MDSM is sponsoring 35 children from various villages to meet their educational and developmental needs.

b) Institutional Care for Orphan, Abandoned & neglected children

In order to meet the institutional care need of the children , the organization has two residential set-ups- one is at Joranda in Gondia Block, Dhenkanal Dist and another is at Turang of Angul District .

1) Maharshi Dayananda Balashram Joranda

Maharshi Dayananda Balashram located at Joranda in Gondia Block of Dhenkanal District enrolls children in the age group of years and above .The children residing here are from local community as well as from different spheres of the State of Orissa referred by several Govt. Officers and others.

2) Yashswee Shishu Greh – Turang

Home for infants, popularly known as Yashaswee Shishu Greh(YSG)located at Turang of Angul District Head quarter provides care and protection to abandoned and relinquished children. As family is the best place for a child to grow, YSG is the platform to place the unidentified children under adoption. The Shishu Greh provides a conducive environment of care and love to these children and makes every attempt to find a home for them.

Since its inception in April 1999,YSG has got opportunity to provide care and nourishment to 41 children, out of which 25 have been placed with adoptive parents and at the end of the year 2006-07 there are 16 children still awaiting adoptive parents.

2. Welfare of the Disabled


a) Women Self Help Groups.( SHG)

MDSM has successfully formed 55 SHGs of women in different rural pockets of Gondia and sada Block of Dhenkanal Dist.

b) Short stay Home for Women and Girls.

MDSM provide temporary shelter, food and clothing to victimized women and girls and undertake various interventions to rehabilitate them in the society, through counseling, imparting vocational training, providing legal support and recreational facilities.

c) Swadhar Shelter Home ( SSH) for Women in difficult circumstances

There are two SSHs –one each in Dhenkanal and Angul Dist, in Orissa run by MDSM. The main objective of this programme is to reintegrate the vulnerable women in to the main stream of the society through various rehabilitative measures.

d) Women help line -Dhenkanal & Angul

It is a 24 hours telephonic crisis intervention endeavor to address the problems of women in crisis. This project is networking with various Government Depts, Non Govt organizations and law enforcement agencies to give maximum help to the beneficiaries.

3.Program for Senior citizens

MDSM is successfully running the following programs for the senior citizens.

a) Old Age Home: located at Anand Nagar, in the Dist. Head Quarter, Dhenkanal

b) Rural day care Centers- in four villages in the Gondia Block of Dhenkanal District.

c) Mobile Health Service –in Gondia , Sadar and Odapada Blocks of Dhenkanal Dist.

In addition to the above programmes and activities, MDSM has also organized many Blood donation Camps, and various awareness sessions.
