What is 'ANUJ' ?
Adoptees National Union for JOY, is an association for Adoptees.
Objectives
- To reach out to the Adoptees through informal gatherings, picnics, camps and other activities.
- To create a support group of their own and inculcate a sense of belonging.
- To provide a platform to voice their feelings and concerns.
- To supply positive information regarding Adoption.
- To offer Counseling and Guidance either personally, by phone, letter or e-mail to the Adoptees, Adoptive parents &
Prospective adoptive parents.
- Special Session for Adolescent Adoptees.
Activities
- Residential Camps for Teenagers.
- 3 monthly picnics and games & competition.
- Post Adoption Counseling for Adoptees, with the help of Experts in the field as well as IQ/DQ/Career Inventory
Tests either individually or in a group.
- Pre-marital Counseling for Adoptees.
- To brief parents to tell the child about adoption in 6 steps…… "Why, by Whom, When, How & How much".
- Support group of Single Adoptive Parents.
For Overseas Activities
- Help organize visits of Adoptees to India.
- Meet other Adoptees in India.
- Find Hosts or paying Guest Accommodation in an Indian Family.
- Facilitate an understanding about their birth-country and culture. Arrange for visits to their Adoptive agency/other
child care agencies where possible.
- Arrange Outings, Camps, Social Visits.
- Give Counseling when the need arises regarding Adoption, Identity Crisis, Searching Roots etc.
