Nilima Mehta has devoted 15 years to the cause of adoption in India. Following a Masters degree in social work and Post-graduate courses in counselling, she began to work with the Family Service Centre in Mumbai in 1977.
She is a visiting lecturer in the College of Social Work, Bombay and serves on the Adoption Committee of the Indian Council of Social Welfare and The Indian Association for Promotion of Adoption.
