Senior Kale employee in UK undertake cycle trek:
Peter O’Sullivan VP Cargo Solution, Kale UK, marked his 50th birthday by cycling from the Southern tip of Ireland
to the Northern tip- about 710 kilometers. He completed this on 7 consecutive days. Peter raised 640 Pounds.
Peter's Report on the trek given below :
5 people (My friends) formed the group. I was the only one raising for CSA. The others raised money for other
worthwhile charities more personal to them.
The 5 people are all old school friends from when I was at Chester City Grammar School. However they are all
‘sportsmen’ and have spent a lot of their time cycling, playing football at various levels, athletes etc.
They have all kept themselves in good shape.
My ROUTE MAP (which is South to North) is as follows:
Day 1: Mizen Head to Glengarriff 55 miles / 87 kms
Day 2: Glengarriff to Tralee 57 miles / 92 kms
Day 3: Tralee to Lahinch 63 miles / 101 kms
Day 4: Lahinch to Athenry 57 miles / 92 kms
Day 5: Athenry to Carrick-on-Shannon 74 miles / 119 kms
Day 6: Carrick-on-Shannon to Donegal 60 miles / 97 ms
Day 7: Donegal to Malin Head 84 miles / 135 kms (ouch!)
Most daunting days were the first 2 days which, although the shortest, were the toughest since we had to cross the Cork and Derry mountains. The last day was also very long and hilly. It was awesome and we were delighted to complete it successfully. We did face some atrocious weather during the week - heavy rains and gale force winds, which made the going very difficult. Still, apart from a pair of wobbly legs, and a very tender ****, I feel fit and strong and certainly lost several pounds in weight!
I have managed to raise 640 pounds .
Thanks to each of you for the support you have given.
