Prospective Aparents
A significant route for us to reach our objective of enhancing the total adoptions in the country and finding homes for all waiting children, is through a facilitation process where we bring together waiting children and, waiting parents. We provide answers/ first-hand information to several questions that a prospective Aparent has to ask. We guide and direct them to agencies and resource persons as necessary. Above all, we lend a listening ear to many a weary Aparent waiting endlessly in her quest for her baby.
Concurrently, we work directly with the identified agency in assisting them complete the paper work, moving initiatives through the CWC, Police and, the Government Department. Our initiatives have facilitated the transfer of 15 children into agencies that can place them. We have also, successfully worked with the Government of Maharashtra in bringing about on-going transfers of eligible children so that, the adoption option is not closed to them. Several successful referrals have already been made.
Adoption agencies
We assist identified agencies in upgrading their facilities and services. We are working extensively with 7 agencies in Marathawada (The Latur Pilot). Our facilitation includes improvements in physical facilities (civil work, painting, mosquito netting, play pen and garden), capability (providing resource persons paid for by us), childcare standards (education, provisions, clothes, toys, medical equipment, and recreation) and administrative enhancements (paper work facilitation).
We have arranged for a donation of Rs. 20 lakhs for SOFOSH's facility for special needs children.
Special Home for Destitute Children
We are working extensively with the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Udyog Kendra , a Government run Special Home for children and are in the process of upgrading all their vocational centres. The computer center and a Gymnasium have already been set up. The Fine Arts Centre is being taken up and other centres will follow. We have also, arranged for several recreational facilities. The initiative is routed through several Corporate houses in India.
