Catalysts For Social Action - Interviews |
In addition to Articles on Adoption, we shall now, also, incorporate interviews of persons associated with Adoptions. This is a part of an arrangement that CSA has worked out with www.IndianNgos.com a reputed web portal on Corporate Social Responsibility in India. Indianngos will conduct the interviews (facilitated by CSA). There are 6 interviews in the current update: :
- Shrimati Shalini Mishra
Atrocities against the weaker sections of the society is an age-old phenomenon. Women and children together
comprise an vulnerable unit in this respect. So much so that the abandonment of women sometimes leads to
consequent abandonment of children. So when one talks to the Director of Woman Development and Child Welfare
department Shalini Mishra, especially in the wake of the ugly episode of child sale in the city by Precious Stone, a
city- based NGO, the thing that strikes most is the grave concern the incident has given rise to, especially in the
official circles.

- Ms. Anjali Gokaran
" Prospective adoptive parents often come with a lot of anxieties, apprehensions and sometimes misconceptions
about the process of adoption, when they start thinking about adopting a child. Their doubts and queries are
in
many areas. It is essential then to put them at ease and reassure them. Founders of NAAF being adoptive
parents
themselves, they can be effective motivators and catalysts in the process of dispelling many baseless prejudices
,
fears and misguided beliefs that people have about adoption."

- Gita Ramaswamy, Activist and Journalist, Hyderabad.
Gita Ramaswamy is a well known activist who was instrumental in the exposure of the sale of babies and the
consequent banning of international adoptions in Andhra Pradesh. CSA does not subscribe to her views but
she does make some strong observations some of which are backed up by hard facts. It would be of interest
to read her side of the story.
The focus is on the story of the sale of the girl- child in Andhra Pradesh (most often against the wish of the birth-
mother) and the apparent collusion of some international agencies with Indian ones, simply with the money- objective.
