Saraswati Anath Shikshan Ashram (SASA), at Pilaji Kate Chowk, Dapodi, Pune is a private orphanage established in . Ms. Purnima Kamble and jointly started the orphanage. Ms. Kamble looks after the orphanage and is designated its PresidentThe orphanage has about 50 children in the age group pf 5-18. Both boys and girls are the inmates of this orphanage. Most of the children go to a nearby school.
Funded entirely through public donations, there is always a shortage of funds. In fact, the office bearers personally visit homes of interested individuals to collect grains and other stuff to meet daily needs. Ms Kamble herself does the cooking and is assisted by some of the older inmates who also, help with other daily chores such as cleaning and washing.
There is tremendous scope for improvement in the orphanage. Health, hygiene and recreation are some of the areas that could be immediately addressed. Congenial environment. Children look happy.
