Model Adoption Agencies

Our work with rural Adoption Agencies revealed the need for improving the childcare, living and work conditions. Prospective adoptive parents often expressed concern about the quality of childcare in rural agencies. Our objective being that adoption from rural India should become a practice, we realized that those agencies had to be supported in improving their standards. Guided by the belief that we cannot handhold an agency for indefinite periods and must move on to agencies across the country, we developed a ‘5-year support model’, leading to a level of professionalism comparable to the best of their  city counterparts. Consequently, in addition to placement facilitations, CSA assist Adoption agencies in improving their care, living and work standards.

We select agencies that are amenable to change and, whose responses are positive. These agencies are earmarked as prospective ‘Model Agencies’ to be extensively supported through the 5-year period  and made into ‘role-models’  for others to emulate.

Participating Agencies

Currently, the identified model agencies are:

1. Self Realization Mission, Orissa
2. Bapuji Seva Sadan, Orissa
3. The Servants of India Society, Orissa
4. Takkshashila Bahuuddeshiya Shikshan Sanstha,Wardha, Maharashtra

Each year additional agencies will be added to be supported as model agencies

Support

During the period of 5 years we shall address

1. Adoption Placement –numbers, timelines, adherence to legal process
2. Living, Child care and work conditions
3. Networking with District/Judiciary/Police and grass-root workers.
4. Practice change if applicable, at local levels.
5. Resource mobilisation.  

The project will benefit existing and incoming children

Project Cost: Rs 20 lakhs/agency over a period of 5 years
