Jay Marathe: An environment to thrive in
The following postcard was written by Jay Marathe who visited CSA’s project.
There are times when all of life seems to be contained within a single moment. I visited a home for ‘destitute’ girls in Pune, which is one of the projects that CSA funds. It was an environment which could have been full of troubled souls, but instead it was a community of happy freedom, where girls re-enforced their own cleanliness and discipline, where issues and problems were openly discussed with the staff and the air was sweet with evident kindness and care. An environment that reminds us that those in the most difficult situations often demonstrate most graciously the power and joy of community.
I was impressed with the CSA representative who was familiar with the staff and residents and keen to ensure they were supporting the home where required.
Wish you were here !
Amit Potnis; Learning Experience
The exposure I got working in CSA was tremendous. The work began as a part of compulsory one month internship I had to undergo but soon I was drawn in to the activities of CSA and I truly became part of it. I enjoyed every moment while at work. Through CSA I learned not only how to communicate with outside parties but also how to effectively get things done your way. I was given by Bharati ma’am, a great amount of liberty in undertaking many creative ideas. Overall I gained immense amount of confidence and also got a sense of the real and the practical world. The work with CSA sensitized me towards the orphan issues and helped me grew my commitment towards contributing for a social cause.
I sincerely thank CSA, Bharati ma’am in particular for giving me such an enriching experience.
Emreen: Waiting to go back
Volunteers from MPS visited the orphanage – Snehasadan at Oshiwara.
This being my first visit to an orphanage, I was initially very apprehensive of what the experience would be like. Infact I would always turn down opportunities to volunteer for these activities. I had envisioned it as being sad and emotional but I am glad that I was proven wrong. These girls were so sociable and open to us, it really helped make our task easy. I never for one moment realised that I was amongst orphaned kids. I would love to go back – maybe for Christmas!!! Infact I have to since my new friends have invited me to their home already!!!
