STATE GOVERNMENT - DEPARTMENT OF WOMEN AND CHILD DEVELOPMENT

The State Governments/ Union Territory, is the authority that will license/recognize Indian adoption agencies for in-country adoption. From amongst such agencies, the State Government may recommend to CARA, agencies for handling, in addition, Inter-country adoptions.  The State Government maintains lists of all agencies handling in-country and inter-country adoptions. It also, maintains a list of all children who are declared legally free for adoption by the competent authorities in these institutions.

The State WCD monitors the implementation of CARA Policy and Guidelines and supervises the functioning of adoption agencies and ACAs in the state.
